Help fund projects to prevent abusive relationships in Virginia by purchasing a new Special Interest License Plate! We have to sell 450 of these by late January in order for the state to approve it, and we still have have quite a few plates to go.
To order it, just follow these 4 simple steps:
1. Go to: http://www.dmv.state.va.us/webdoc/pdf/vsa10.pdf to download your license plate application. (Note: When filling out the Application, please check the box for Special Interest and write “Virginia Sexual and Domestic Violence Action Alliance” for organization name.)
2. Write a check made out to “Action Alliance” for $25 (non-personalized) or $35 for a personalized license plate.
3. Mail check and completed application to: 5008 Monument Ave., Ste. A Richmond, VA 23230
4. All pre-purchased license plates will be ready by Spring 2013. If your contact information changes during this time period, please contact the Action Alliance (804) 377-0335.

Whom is the license plate benefitting? Proceeds from the sale of this plate supports the Building Healthy Futures Fund: A joint venture between the Virginia Sexual and Domestic Violence Action Alliance and member Sexual and Domestic Violence Advocacy Agencies to fund statewide and local prevention initiatives.
To whom do I make the check payable and for how much? To “Action Alliance”. $25 for non-personalized license plate and $35 for a personalized plate.
How long will it take my check to clear? The Virginia Sexual and Domestic Violence Action Alliance will receive checks at the end of each month from participating local agencies. Your check will be deposited within 40 days of being written.
Do I send anything to Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV)? NO. The Virginia Sexual and Domestic Violence Action Alliance will send all pre-paid applications and only one check to the DMV once all pre-paid plates are sold.
Will I have to pay for the license plate every year? Yes. The license plate fee is initially $25 and then another $25 for each following year you display the plate.
Does the cost of this new special plate include my vehicle registration fees? No, your registration fees are not included. You must renew your current vehicle registration with the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles when it is due. After DMV issues your new plate, the plate fee will be included in your next vehicle registration renewal.
Will DMV process my vehicle registration renewal while issuing this new special plate? As a courtesy, if your registration is within two months of expiration at the time we are issuing your new plates, DMV will renew your registration and bill you for payment.
Can I get a souvenir license plate? Applications for souvenir plates cannot be included as part of the required prepaid applications submitted; however, souvenir plates will be available when the plates become available statewide.
Can I personalize my license plate? Yes. You can list your top 4 choices on the license plate application. All final personalized license plates are subject to DMV approval. The fee for a personalized license plate is $10. There will be 7.5 spaces available for personalization on this plate.
I submitted my application with payment, but my information (i.e. mailing address, vehicle information) has changed. What should I do? Send an updated application along with a brief explanation to the sponsor organization collecting the applications. Do not send your new application to DMV.

Will I receive a refund if the sponsor organization is unable to collect the minimum prepaid applications needed to develop this plate? Yes, you will receive a full refund. The Virginia Sexual and Domestic Violence Action Alliance will issue you a refund check to the address you have provided.
How will I receive my new plates? DMV will mail your new plates to the address on your DMV customer record. If you changed your address, please contact DMV to update your customer record. Your order will include one set of plates – one for the front and back of your vehicle, year and month decals, and a new vehicle registration card.
